India Yoga Tour



Educare Yoga Tours presents a taste of a more authentic yoga experience than typical yoga retreats and tours offer.

Our India Yoga Tour will begin in the north in the capital of New Delhi (with the famous Qutab Minar Complex and impressive Akshardan Temple) and wind its way down the west coast of India. Included in the yoga tour will be the Taj Mahal in Agra, which is considered to be one of the 7 Wonders of the World and mesmerizing in person.

We’ll explore different aspects of Indian culture in the state of Kerala, home to the roots of some of our modern sciences/maths. Kerala is also home to a big Christian influence, which we’ll see too. We’ll take a relaxing sunset houseboat cruise along the backwaters of Kumarakom, as well as stay in the coolest cliffside beachtown of Varkala. We’ll also visit the famous city of Kochi and see performances of ancient martial arts (Kalaripayattu), dance (Kathakali), and music (classical Carnatic music), take a South Indian cooking class and more.

And of course, we’ll get to experience a taste of an authentic yoga ashram for 3 nights, which is the heart of the yoga tour! There will also be optional Ayurvedic medicine consultations,, treatments and massage if you’d like to explore this ancient holistic healing system.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - Arrive, check into hotel and relax during the day. Welcome dinner in the evening and introduction to the India yoga tour.

DAY 2 - Breakfast at the hotel, followed by a slimmed down, custom tour of New Delhi (including the amazing Qutab Minar complex with iron pillar, India Gate, India National Museum and Akshardan Temple). Deluxe, buffet dinner.

DAY 3 - Day trip to Agra to see the world-famous Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. Return to Delhi and enjoy dinner.

DAY 4 - Fly from Delhi to Trivandrum in the south of India. Get an introduction to South Indian cuisine, which is different from the cuisine in the north, as well as short workshops on pranayama and yoga asana.

DAY 5-7 - Enjoy breakfast and then check out of hotel and travel to Sivananda Yoga Ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala. This is an opportunity to have a unique experience of an authentic yoga ashram with a daily schedule that includes satsang (ie guided meditation, kirtan, aarti, etc), yoga classes, vegetarian meals, etc. You can choose which classes you feel like and will have plenty of free time to read, relax, rest. You’ll meet people from all over the world. As a bonus, you will also have access to the on-grounds Ayurvedic clinic if you would like a consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor or an Ayurvedic oil massage (abhyanga, shirodhara), etc.

DAY 8-9 - Enjoy breakfast and then travel to Varkala, a popular cliffside beachtown in Kerala, with an opportunity to enjoy India’s beach life and get a temporary henna tattoo if you’d like.

DAY 10 - Enjoy breakfast and then travel to Kumarakom, to enjoy an elevated houseboat experience: a sunset dinner cruise along the backwaters of Kerala.

DAY 11-12 - Enjoy breakfast and then travel to Kochi to explore the different arts of Kerala - including performances such as ancient martial arts (Kalaripayattu), dance (Kathakali), and music (classical Carnatic music) and a South Indian cooking class and more.

DAY 13 - Guests enjoy breakfast and fly back home after a relaxing yoga tour packed with a variety of cultural experiences. Bon voyage!
